Party Time in New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints won their ever first Super Bowl last night at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The Saints stunned sports bettors, the viewers and the favored Indianapolis Colts when their 31 – 17 victory was sealed with a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown with just 3.12 minutes remaining in the game. MVP Drew Brees may be the most revered Super Bowl MVP ever, battling through a crippling shoulder injury and winning the championship for the beleaguered city of New Orleans. Brees finished with 288 yards on 32 of 39 passing. He threw two touchdowns and no interceptions and was...

AFC Downs NFC in Pro Bowl

The AFC took down the NFC at the Sun Life Stadium, Miami in the 40th edition of the Pro Bowl. The NFC was a 3 point favorite to win at LinesMaker and took 76% of the betting volume. The 41–34 victory was clinched with Tennessee’s Chris Johnson who ran for a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.  Members of the Colts and Saints were unable to take part in the Pro Bowl this year which was moved from its usual slot a week after Super Bowl to the week prior. Pro Bowl players from the Super Bowl teams such as Peyton Manning and Drew Brees watched from the sidelines. It was Houston’s Matt...

Super Bowl Betting Preview

With the big game just a week away, the Saints are entering the Super Bowl as 5.5 point underdogs against the favored Colts. LinesMaker, like most major sportsbooks, is getting heavy action early on the Colts. Typically, the underdog bettors will wait for the line to be driven upwards and get their Super Bowl bets in later in the week.  While the Colts are looking to repeat history, the Saints are looking to create their own. To do so, Drew Brees and the Saints need to come out fast and hard to shut down the Colts early. The Saints will also need big performances from Reggie Bush, Jeremy Shockey,...

Classic Super Bowl Hype

It is the time of year for Super Bowl hype and the 2010 edition certainly has all the makings of a classic. For the first time in sixteen years the top two teams in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints, will face each other in Miami on Feb 7th. Both teams are not renowned for their defense but have enough for when it counts. The Saints have the most potent offense and the Colts have one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Peyton Manning. Both teams could come from behind to win in the final minutes. Whatever the outcome, the game is sure to be action packed. Now both...

Colts Bring Down Jets

The Indianapolis Colts won the AFC Championship yesterday defeating the New York Jets 30-17. Four times MVP Peyton Manning passed for 377 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets rallying the Colts from an 11-point deficit to victory. This will be the second time in four years and their fourth Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. The Colts vs. Jets betting odds at LinesMaker had the Colts favored by 8.0 points and most bookmakers expected a fairly low-scoring game. It was a rough game for the Jets, who even with their 17 -13 lead after the first half, could not contain Manning in the...

Saints March to Super Bowl

It was an exciting back and forth battle and the result was a sweet 31-28 overtime victory for the Saints and the entire city of New Orleans. At LinesMaker the spread favored the home-team Saints by 3.5 with heavy action on the Saints. The Vikings took nearly 75% of the betting volume on the money line.   This is the furthest the Saints have ever progressed in the playoffs and 2009 has been their best season by far. When they beat the New England Patriots on November 30, the team went to an 11–0 record for the first time in franchise history. They won their first 13 games and set a team record...

NFC Championship Preview

The NFC Championship game takes place Sunday night between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. LinesMaker has the Saints favored by 3.5 points, but both the Vikings and Saints are coming off dominating wins so Sunday’s game promises a lot of great action. This is the Saints second time in the playoffs, their last was in 2006 when they lost to the Bears. Brett Farve will need to make another solid outing for the Vikings to match points with the Saints strong offense lead by Brees. The Vikings last NFC Championship appearance was in 2000 when they lost 41 – 0. Their defense could...

AFC Championship Preview

The AFC Championship playoff game between the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts this Sunday promises to be great viewing . The Jets are seeded #5, winning seven of their last eight games and have covered the spread in 5 straight road games. They last played in the AFC Championship in 1988. The Colts look as though they will advance to Super Bowl. They are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games when favored 3.5 to 10 points. The Colts have averaged 25.6 points per game and are favored to win the Championship by 7.5 points at LinesMaker. The Colts need to have potent passing...

Underdog Jets Shock Chargers

The Chargers were solid 7.5 point favorites coming into Sunday’s game against the Jets. Betting action was balanced against the spread by our members but the consensus was that the Chargers were pretty much a lock to win outright on the money lines. It did not work out that way, however, as the Jets did not follow the script and surprised most everybody with an upset victory. With Chargers down 17-7, San Diego kicker Nate Kaeding failed on a 40 yard field goal attempt with 4:38 remaining in the match. San Diego did score a touchdown with just over two minutes left, but were unable to recover...

Colts Defense Grounds Ravens

The Colts hosted the Ravens and soundly beat them by 17 points to easily cover the 6.5 point spread at LinesMaker. In the process they broke their playoff losing streak. The Colts rushed to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. The Ravens tied the game late in the quarter with a field goal. Until late in the second quarter it became a defensive battle for the Ravens. Peyton Manning sent a touchdown strike to rookie Austin Collie followed by another touchdown pass to Pro Bowl wide receiver Reggie Wayne. This took the Colts to a 17-3 lead. The Ravens running game managed only 33 yards between their star...
